Rainbow Transfer Paper
Turn white polyester thread into
a Rainbow of Color! Beautiful Results can't be achieved with thread
alone! Instructions included.
Basically, you will be dying thread in the hoop and after the design area is
stitched.
$7.95 per pack
26 inches by 1 yard
The fish were all done with the Crystal Embroidery Design Set "Rainbow Fish"
The transfer paper comes with the kit and the thread is dyed while the
embroidery is in the hoop.
Thanks to the creativity of Lois and Margaret, the Fantasy
Phoenix from Hatched In Africa
was created with polyester thread and each section was stitched and that
piece was dyed before going on to the next area. The stabilizer was
laid down, stitched and transfer paper ironed onto stitches. Then the
stabilizer was torn away and the next part was stitched, dyed and so on.
The phoenix to the right was stitched in metallic and regular threads and
then dyed. Colored thread does not show off the rainbow effect as
brilliantly. Margaret says she used Solvy stabilizer and ironed over
it. This way the stabilizer washed out completely to show off the
wispy parts of the design and no stabilizer was left over. Please test
your stabilizer prior to using it with an iron.
Carol created the items to the right with designs from
Embroidables.com: Embroidery Design
Gallery. Not only did she use the Rainbow Transfer paper for the
lettering but also what a great idea to dye the piece of fabric for the top
ribbon piece with the rainbow transfer paper also.
If using on free standing lace, dissolve stabilizer and be sure lace is dry.
Press transfer paper to lace using something under the lace to protect your
ironing surface. Change the direction of the paper for different
effects as seen here.
Instructions for using Rainbow Transfer Paper
1.
Hoop item and
lay parchment paper or lightweight tear away stabilizer over area to be
embroidered and then dyed with the transfer paper.
2.
Be sure the stabilizer is able to be ironed and that color won't seep
through. Test the stabilizer first! This step is to protect the
rest of your surface from being dyed along with the threads you want
colored.
3.
Embroider using white Polyester thread. It must be Polyester for a bright
permanent color.
4.
Cut a piece of transfer paper to fit over the area. Place on embroidery and
press with HOT iron no steam for 20 seconds. Check color and continue until
desired color is achieved
5.
Do not take out of hoop if more embroidery is to be done. Just remove
transfer paper
6.
Remove Parchment paper and continue embroidery.
